This post is about setting up a Nokia C2-01 on the AT&T wireless network.
By Shawn
So, this phone is NOT an AT&T phone. I bought it on Amazon.com for under $100. At any rate, it boasts internet connectivity, email, app store, MMS, etc. However, since it's not an AT&T phone, it does not come pre-configured to connect to the AT&T network for using these services.
So, here are the Three steps required to get this phone going:
Two of the Steps are configuring Access points, found under:
Menu > Settings > Configuration > Personal config. sett. > Options > Add New >
I will refer to the path above, as AP_HOME.
1. Configure Web Access Point
Go to AP_HOME and choose Web and set it up as follows
Account name: MediaNet (or whatever you want it to be)
User name: (blank)Password: (blank)Use pref. access pt [Yes/No] (no)[If No] Access point settings -Proxy [Disabled/Enabled] Enabled-[If Enabled] Proxy Address wireless.cingular.com-[If Enabled] Proxy Port 80-Data bearer [Packet data/GSM data] Packet data -Bearer settings Packet data acc. pt: wap.cingularNetwork type [IPv4/IPv6] IPv4Authenticiation type [Normal/Secure] NormalUser name: (none)Password: (none)
2. Configure the MMS Access Point
Go to AP_HOME and choose Multimedia msg.
Account name: MMS (or whatever you want)Server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Use pref. access pt [Yes/No] No[If No] Access point settings
-Proxy [Disabled/Enabled] Enabled-[If Enabled] Proxy Address wireless.cingular.com-[If Enabled] Proxy Port 80-Bearer settings
Packet data acc. pt: wap.cingular
Network type [IPv4/IPv6] IPv4Authenticiation type [Normal/Secure] NormalUser name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (all caps)
Password: CINGULAR1 (all caps)
3. Set the default Access Point
To do this follow this path
Menu > Settings > Configuration
In configuration, choose Default config. sett.
Choose "Personal config" and the middle button will now say "Details," so click the middle button.
The middle button will now say "Default," click the middle button again.
Congratulations, we just used the internet to solve a problem.
